GUEST ARTIST DONNA PERRY

DONNA PERRY

I met DONNA when we were making dolls. Her’s were exceptional. Her experience in sewing and pattern making set her a notch above everyone, but her artists eye and craftsmanship caused everyone to appreciate her work.  That was long ago and dolls have been taking a back seat for awhile to the multitude of her other skills. I want to share some of them with you in today’s blog.

DONNA’S WORDS

I am a mixed media artist living in the San Francisco Bay Area.  After retiring from desktop publishing and database management, I returned to my art and started making cloth sculptured dolls, but my background includes fine art (especially oil and watercolor painting), ceramics, jewelry design and lost wax casting, fiber art, fabric surface design, and collage.  In the 1980s I co-owned two tailoring, alteration and dressmaking shops.  My business partner and I also made one-of-a-kind designs and wearable art.  I love it all!

DONNA’S DOLLS

This is one of the most imaginative art dolls I’ve ever seen.  The inspiration came from

an umbrella DONNA purchased in the Paris Flea Market.  I call her MARY POPPINS.

As you can see, you never know where DONNA is  going with her art, but you are never disappointed.
