This month I am featuring one of our group. As you will see, Suzanne is incredibly prolific and has amazing color sense. When I ask her for color advice on a mosaic project I am working on, she always pulls out something I would never have reached for, and it’s always exciting and right. The highlight of my week is the two days that we work together on mosaics.
“I am a maker of oil paintings, quilts, dolls, mixed media, and currently mosaics. I love learning new techniques. I don’t like to travel because I miss my ‘stuff’ (art supplies and sewing machine). I am never bored and love retirement because I get to hang out with my artsy gal pals. I am a native Californian and have lived for 33 years in Alameda, the city with perfect weather.”
MY ART DOLLS
“I started painting when my husband and I moved into our new home. We bought a painting I thought was too much money to spend on something that I could probably do myself. Our home is Spanish style so I started with a series of missions.”
My flower series
“I painted this one because I was fascinated with the light on the tiles.”
The rest of us are working on projects, but they are not ready to show. We’ll have more next month.
I’d love to hear from you so please leave a note. Suggestions are welcome.
