WANDA FUDGE I have had a passion for creating with beautiful fabrics all my life. I opened my first store in the sixties in Sausalito making custom gowns. Because of my location, I was fortunate to meet and design for Lainie Kazan, Lucille Ball, Juliet Prowse, and Kim Novak, as well as many of San Francisco’s society ladies.
After a few years I moved into retail. This offered me the chance to travel extensively in Europe and live in Paris. I have supported my family through the years with wholesale and retail businesses. I found that I loved the conception of a store and I couldn’t stop at one; I have had women’s clothing stores, a men’s clothing store, several children’s stores, a shoe and accessory store, a florist shop, a hi-tech furniture store, and a gallery cafe.
In 1980 I moved to Hollywood and opened a children’s costume shop. At that time I was the only designer in the area that specialized in children’s costumes, which positioned me to work on numerous films and commercials.
Since I retired I have been free to explore new crafts. I have offered Art to Wear and my purses at the Celebration of Craftswomen, the KPFA Craft Show, and Pro Arts Open Studios. My art dolls have been shown in the Frank Bette Gallery in Alameda, the Olive Hyde Gallery in Fremont, and the Alta Bates Gallery in Oakland.
At present I am moving into a new craft, which you will see unfold in the coming issues of the blog. As my history shows, I am always looking for my next opportunity for artistic expression!

Recently I went on a trip and wanted to have a small bag with my important items carried in a way that was safe and my hands were free for my luggage. I came up with a bag that has a strap to wear around my wrist. This bag proved to be perfect. I made the other bag to carry my cell phone on my hip. That worked nicely as well. With my glasses case around my neck, my cell phone on my hip, and my purse on my wrist, I felt a little bit like a Christmas tree, but what are you going to do?
This is Bonnie’s blue group of wall dolls and tree ornaments. Whimsical and wonderful as usual.
I’m ending this month with Rosie’s little nuns.
